I completed my summer internship at California Government Operations Agency, and I still cannot believe the many rewarding opportunities that I was able to participate in and grow from!
One of the highlights was being a part of the dedicated leadership team that organized and executed California’s annual State Leadership Summit. From the moment I toured the event venue on my first day, I knew this summer would be unforgettable. Working alongside a team of women who welcomed me into their process and entrusted me with various responsibilities was truly inspiring. I helped manage registration for the event, which drew over 400 attendees, and assisted in creating and organizing badges. Additionally, I communicated with vendors, hosted and led various meetings on behalf on the leadership team, and contributed to ensure this event ran smoothly as possible. Thank you to Sarah Soto-Taylor, Sarah Kerber, Chioma Emezi, and Jessica Altvatter for allowing me to truly feel involved in every aspect of the process. Every moment with you all was a learning opportunity.
Another rewarding experience was collaborating with Nicole Skow on designing the podium signage for the Leadership Summit. Seeing something I had worked so hard on come to life and play a key role in the event was incredibly fulfilling. I am grateful for Roy Kennedy in trusting me with the with the design and meetings with Nicole for the podium signage.
To conclude my internship, I presented an hour-long capstone presentation on social media engagement to a room full of cabinet-level agency executives. The experience was exhilarating and a testament to how my research and hard work had paid off. Thank you to again to Roy for working with me on my final capstone presentation. Your feedback and support during every step of the process was a constant reassurance that I was prepared for this project.
Thank you to James Regan for having that initial phone call with me and providing me the opportunity that led to this unforgettable experience.
Finally, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you my California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo professors. The knowledge and insights gained in and outside of your classrooms allowed me to feel like I could grasp these concepts, ask questions that led to a deeper understanding, and accept these challenges. I am deeply appreciative of you all.
Thank you to GovOps and everyone for this opportunity and the growth I’ve experienced this summer. Your guidance and mentorship have been invaluable, and I look forward to applying these lessons in my future career.
